Azerbaijan Ranks as Belarus’s Seventh Major Export Partner, Says Mikhail Myatlikov
Strengthening Trade Relations: Azerbaijan Emerges as Key Export Partner for Belarus
At the recent Azerbaijani-Belarusian business forum held in Baku, Mikhail Myatlikov, Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), revealed that Azerbaijan has ascended to become Belarus’s seventh most significant export partner by the end of the previous year. This information is indicative of rapidly evolving economic ties between the two nations.
Myatlikov highlighted that bilateral trade saw an impressive jump in 2024, with a total turnover increasing by 46%. Of this growth, Belarusian exports climbed by 44%, while imports into Belarus surged by 73%. Azerbaijan’s contribution to the overall trade volume grew by approximately 25%, allowing the country to rise from the 13th to the 11th position in terms of trade volume.
A notable aspect of this trade enhancement is the substantial increase in Belarusian exports of meat and dairy products, petroleum products, and timber. Myatlikov emphasized that this trend reflects an active engagement from businesses in both countries, as they seek to explore and establish new market niches.
As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen these ties, the BCCI announced an upcoming visit by a large delegation of about 20 Belarusian enterprises to Baku from May 13 to 16. This visit coincides with the CaspianAgro and InterFood exhibitions, providing a platform for Belarus to showcase new products and innovations.
Furthermore, Myatlikov extended invitations to Azerbaijani delegates to participate in the upcoming Belagro agro-industrial exhibition scheduled for June 3–7 at the newly constructed International Exhibition Center. He also encouraged Azerbaijani industrial companies to attend the International Industrial Exhibition Innoprom in Minsk, slated for September 29 to October 2, at the same venue.
These initiatives underscore a commitment to deepening trade relations between Azerbaijan and Belarus, with both nations positioning themselves as vital partners in the evolving landscape of international commerce.
