Azerbaijan and Serbia Strengthen Cooperation in Energy and Beyond

The collaboration between Azerbaijan and Serbia has reached a significant milestone, especially in the energy sector, as stated by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Finance Sahil Babayev during an event commemorating Serbia’s Statehood Day. Babayev highlighted that Serbia has become a vital transit country for Azerbaijan’s energy exports to the Balkan regions and the rest of Europe.

Both countries have placed great emphasis on expanding their partnership in various fields including economy, finance, transport infrastructure, defense, agriculture, education, science, culture, and tourism. The increase in trade turnover by more than 17 times in the past year showcases the robust economic ties between Azerbaijan and Serbia.

Minister Babayev pointed out that the political relations between the two countries are at a peak, with the strategic partnership continuing to strengthen. The signing of a memorandum to establish the Strategic Partnership Council in 2022 has elevated the cooperation to a new level.

Highlighting the more than 50 signed documents between Azerbaijan and Serbia, Babayev emphasized the solid legal foundation for their bilateral relations. The two nations actively collaborate within international organizations, demonstrating a commitment to international law principles and providing mutual support to each other on issues related to territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The ongoing cooperation and strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Serbia are proving to be beneficial for both countries, paving the way for further advancements in various sectors of mutual interest.
