High-Level Dialogue on Military Education Held in Azerbaijan
On May 6, a significant "High-Level Dialogue event on improving the training and educational process" took place between the National Defense Universities (NDUs) of Azerbaijan and Türkiye at the Military Institute named after Heydar Aliyev. This event was organized in honor of the 102nd anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, as reported by the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry.
Key attendees included Rectors of the NDUs, senior officials from various departments, leaders of educational institutions, and military personnel from both countries. The event commenced with a visit to the statue of Heydar Aliyev situated within the institute’s grounds, followed by a tribute at the Memorial Complex dedicated to the martyrs, where flowers were laid.
The formal segment of the gathering was held at the club of the Military Institute, during which a minute of silence was observed to honor the memory of Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence and sovereignty of both nations. The national anthems of Azerbaijan and Türkiye were performed by a military orchestra, enhancing the solemn atmosphere.
In his opening remarks, Major General Gunduz Abdulov, the Rector of the Azerbaijan National Defense University, extended a warm welcome to the participants. He emphasized the importance of the High-Level Dialogue event in fostering military education ties between Azerbaijan and Türkiye. Major General Abdulov highlighted the strategic partnership between the two nations, underscoring how the involvement of Türkiye’s delegation reflects the commitment of both President Ilham Aliyev and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan towards enhancing military educational cooperation.
He noted that this collaborative approach to military education is being implemented for the first time in the Azerbaijan Army, based on successful Turkish experiences. The recent meetings have marked a significant shift towards more effective military education for both nations.
Professor Erhan Afyoncu, the Rector of the Turkish National Defense University, also addressed the audience. He spoke about the importance of advancing military education and lauded the deep-rooted and unbreakable bonds between Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
The event concluded with working groups engaging in activities focused on improving the educational processes in military training, further cementing the collaborative framework established between the two countries.
