Azerbaijani Army Faces Intense Fire on Positions

Armenian Armed Forces Violate Ceasefire, Attacking Azerbaijani Positions
Baku, June 17, AZERTAC – In a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement, Armenian armed forces targeted Azerbaijan Army positions in the districts of Gadabay, Kalbajar, and Lachin, according to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense.
Starting from 10:45, Armenian armed forces units stationed in opposite positions used various caliber weapons to subject the Azerbaijan Army positions to intensive fire. The Ministry of Defense condemned these aggressive actions, which pose a threat to regional peace and stability.
In response to the attack, the Azerbaijan Army units have taken appropriate retaliatory measures to protect their positions and defend the country’s sovereignty. The ministry assured that the Azerbaijan Army units maintain control over the operational situation.
Ceasefire violations have been a recurring issue between Armenia and Azerbaijan, especially in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. This recent attack further highlights the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict and a strict adherence to international agreements.
The international community has consistently called for the peaceful settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict. The attack by Armenian armed forces not only undermines these efforts but also jeopardizes the lives of innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.
Both Armenia and Azerbaijan must prioritize dialogue and negotiation to achieve a lasting and sustainable peace. The use of force will only escalate tensions and result in further human suffering.
As this situation unfolds, it is essential for the international community to remain engaged and actively support diplomatic efforts. The collective efforts of all stakeholders are crucial in bringing about a peaceful resolution and ensuring the well-being of the region.
It is imperative for both parties to adhere to the ceasefire and refrain from any actions that could lead to further escalation. The international community must continue to advocate for a peaceful resolution to the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict through dialogue and negotiation.
