Azerbaijani President and First Lady meet Turkish athletes at European Weightlifting Championships
President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and First Lady, Mehriban Aliyeva, have honored Turkish athletes with the Taraggi medal, the highest award of the Azerbaijani state, for dedicating their victories to Azerbaijan at the European Weightlifting Championships in Yerevan. President Aliyev commended the Turkish athletes for raising the Turkish flag and playing the National Anthem at the championship, restoring justice when disrespect was shown towards Azerbaijan and their national flag. He also pointed out that their victory is a manifestation of the unshakable brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey. In addition, the Turkish Weightlifting Federation gifted President Aliyev and the First Lady with a gold medal and the logo of the Turkish Weightlifting Federation, respectively. The meeting concluded with an invitation for the Turkish athletes to travel to Karabakh and see that the flags of Turkey and Azerbaijan were flying side by side in the city of Shusha, as a manifestation of the great love in the hearts of the Azerbaijani and Turkish people.
