Azerbaijani Fighters Triumph at World Open Savate in Plovdiv
Azerbaijani fighters have showcased their skills at the World Open Savate competition held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, bringing home four medals, including a prestigious gold.
Aghamirza Mahmudbayli distinguished himself by claiming the gold medal in the men’s 30kg weight class. His impressive performance solidified his status as a top competitor in the sport.
Silver medals were secured by Beyrak Baghirov in the 80kg category and Sanan Babazade in the +85kg class, showcasing the depth of talent within the Azerbaijani team. Additionally, Uzeyir Masimov contributed to the country’s success with a bronze medal in the 36kg category.
Savate, also known as French boxing, combines elements of traditional English boxing with unique kicking techniques, making it a multifaceted combat sport. Originating in France during the 18th century, savate not only emphasizes physical prowess but also promotes personal qualities such as ethics, aesthetics, and discipline.
