Azerbaijanis Held Captive by Armenians Tortured and Killed

Azerbaijani Prosecutor Reveals Shocking Details of Hostage Situation in Karabakh

Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor Fuad Musayev has revealed shocking details about the ordeal faced by 1,698 Azerbaijanis who were taken hostage by Armenians in the country’s Karabakh region and surrounding areas between 1988 and 2023. During the trial of individuals of Armenian origin accused of committing war crimes, Musayev disclosed that over a hundred different torture methods were applied to these hostages.

According to Musayev, out of the 1,698 hostages, 170 individuals, including civilians and military personnel, were deliberately killed through torture and inhumane treatment. The remaining 1,528 people were eventually released, thanks to the efforts of the Azerbaijani state, international organizations, and the personal initiatives of close relatives of military prisoners and hostages. In some cases, the hostages were released in exchange for material goods.

The revelation of these horrific details sheds light on the brutal treatment inflicted upon Azerbaijani hostages in Karabakh over the years. The trial of those accused of committing these war crimes will hopefully bring justice to the victims and their families.
