Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Speaker Meets with Israeli Counterpart
During her visit to Uzbekistan, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova met with Speaker of the Israeli Knesset Amir Ohana to discuss the successful development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Israel. The two speakers highlighted the cooperation in economic, trade, and energy sectors, as well as the importance of high-level visits and meetings in advancing ties.
They also emphasized the role of legislative bodies in strengthening relations between the two countries, noting that mutual visits and constructive dialogue help deepen cooperation. Speaker Gafarova highlighted Azerbaijan’s traditions of tolerance and multiculturalism, noting the peaceful coexistence of various communities, including the Jewish community.
The Azerbaijani diaspora in Israel and Azerbaijanis of Jewish origin were also mentioned for their contribution to bilateral relations. The Speaker of the Israeli Knesset expressed gratitude to the Government of Azerbaijan for promoting peace and coexistence, and both parties exchanged views on other matters of mutual interest during the meeting.
