Azerbaijan’s Mining Challenges Discussed at UN
A presentation on the mine issue in Azerbaijan was recently given at the 28th International Meeting of Mine Action National Directors and United Nations Advisers (NDM-UN28) held in Geneva. The Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) reported that discussions were held on the efforts being made to address this problem.
The Azerbaijani delegation, led by ANAMA Deputy Chairman Samir Poladov, highlighted the severity of mine contamination as a major global humanitarian concern. The event featured panel discussions and the exchange of ideas on the utilization of both new technologies and traditional methods in humanitarian demining.
This presentation shed light on the ongoing efforts to eliminate mines in Azerbaijan and the challenges that remain in ensuring the safety of communities affected by mine contamination. The sharing of experiences and expertise at the NDM-UN28 meeting will contribute to the collective efforts to address this critical issue on an international scale.
