Azerbaijan’s Tomato Exports Show Mixed Results in Early 2025
In the first quarter of 2025, Azerbaijan exported tomatoes worth $44.6 million, according to a recent report from the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication. This figure represents a slight decrease of $0.4 million, or 0.9%, compared to the same period in 2024.
However, the month of March revealed a more positive trend, with tomato exports reaching $17.8 million. This marked an increase of 18.7% year-on-year, indicating a potential rebound in demand for Azerbaijani tomatoes.
Beyond the agricultural sector, Azerbaijan’s overall non-oil sector exports experienced promising growth, rising by 14.7% when compared to the first quarter of 2024. Total non-oil exports during this period reached $771.9 million, showcasing the country’s expanding economic activities outside of oil.
As Azerbaijan continues to diversify its economy, the performance of its agricultural exports, particularly tomatoes, will be crucial in determining the country’s economic trajectory in the coming months.
