Baku Court Refuses to Consider Ruben Vardanyan’s Motion Again

The court hearing on the criminal case against Armenian citizen Ruben Vardanyan continued on February 17 with various charges including torture, mercenary activity, violation of laws and customs of war, terrorism, and terrorism financing. Vardanyan and his defender filed a motion objecting to the composition of the court, which was later left unconsidered after deliberation.
Prosecutors Vusal Aliyev and Fuad Musayev defended the state prosecution and emphasized the necessity of substantiating the objection in the criminal procedure legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan. They argued that no specific grounds were established for the issues mentioned in the motion and requested to leave the objection unconsidered. The victims participating in the court session also requested to leave the objection unconsidered.
After deliberation, the court announced its decision to leave the objection unconsidered. The case against Ruben Vardanyan will continue to be heard as the trial progresses.
