Azerbaijan and Iran Strengthen Bilateral Ties Through Diplomatic Dialogue
Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Yalchin Rafiyev, recently held a meeting with Saeed Khatibzadeh, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister and Head of the Political and International Research Center of the Iranian Foreign Ministry. This dialogue came during Khatibzadeh’s official visit to Azerbaijan, as reported by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting focused on enhancing the agenda of bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran, particularly following Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s visit to Azerbaijan on April 28, 2025. The two officials also explored opportunities for mutual collaboration within various regional and international organizations.
A significant point raised during the discussions was the importance of establishing connections between research institutes and think tanks in both nations. This initiative aims to foster greater understanding and awareness of diverse topics among the public in Azerbaijan and Iran, potentially providing a robust boost to bilateral relations.
In addition to the core agenda, Rafiyev and Khatibzadeh addressed a variety of regional and global issues, indicating a broadening of their diplomatic engagement.
