
Baku Port Reports Nearly 9% Surge in Cargo Handling

Increased Cargo Handling at the Port of Baku in Q1 2025
In the first quarter of 2025, the Port of Baku has achieved a remarkable milestone by handling over 1.9 million tons of cargo. This figure represents an impressive 8.8% increase compared to the same period in 2024, as reported by Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY).
Notably, the port has also seen a significant rise in container traffic, processing 30,034 TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) containers. This marks a substantial increase of 126% from the 13,280 TEU handled in the first quarter of the previous year, showcasing the port’s expanding capabilities in container management.
In addition to the cargo and container throughput, the Port of Baku facilitated the handling of 13,711 units of wheeled equipment and 7,765 wagons. The dry cargo segment also showed robust figures, with 366,000 tons being processed, alongside 377,000 tons of oil and oil products.
The upward trend in cargo handling at the Port of Baku highlights its growing significance as a key logistical hub in the region, positioning it effectively to meet increasing trade demands and enhance connectivity within the international supply chain.
