Ban on cement import into Kyrgyzstan lifted – Boosting construction industry restrictions lifted in Kyrgyzstan – Cement imports now allowed

The ban on the import of cement into Kyrgyzstan has been lifted, according to a recent resolution signed by the Cabinet of Ministers. The decision applies to Portland cement, aluminous cement, slag cement, and similar hydraulic cements, whether pigmented or not, and whether in a ready form or as clinkers, excluding supersulphated cement from the commodity heading 2523 of the EAEU Foreign Economic Activity Commodity Nomenclature when imported by road.

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has been tasked with informing the World Trade Organization and the Eurasian Economic Commission of the lifting of the ban, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been instructed to notify the CIS Executive Committee.

The initial ban was imposed on October 1, 2024, for a period of six months, following amendments to the resolution signed by Prime Minister Akylbek Japarov on August 1. This recent decision to lift the ban marks a significant development for the cement industry in Kyrgyzstan.
