
Ban on wasteful feasts and funeral banquets in Bishkek

New Regulations Implemented in Sverdlovsky District, Bishkek to Curb Wasteful Events
In an effort to promote responsible and environmentally friendly practices, banquet halls, cafes, and restaurants in Sverdlovsky district of Bishkek have been prohibited from hosting wasteful festivities and funeral banquets. This decision was announced by the press service of the city’s City Hall.
A meeting was convened with the participation of various stakeholders, including the head of Sverdlovsky district police department Ulanbek Aaliev, the district’s imam-khatib, heads of local territorial departments, and representatives from popular cafes and banquet halls in the area. The focus of the discussion was the implementation of the Presidential Decree on regulating family celebrations and funeral customs in the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as the strict regulation of traditions, celebrations, and rituals to uphold the spiritual and moral culture of Kyrgyz society.
According to the statement released by the municipality, services will be denied to individuals planning extravagant family events, religious ceremonies, or funeral rites. The aim is to promote social justice and discourage excessive spending during ceremonial or memorial occasions.
The establishments involved have expressed their support for these measures, and the heads of municipal territorial administrations have been tasked with intensifying information and awareness campaigns to educate the public on the importance of avoiding wastefulness during events. By encouraging responsible practices and promoting sustainable behavior, Sverdlovsky district aims to contribute to a more conscious and mindful community.
