Foreign students studying at universities in Kyrgyzstan have been prohibited from working as couriers, according to Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Nurbek Abdiev. This announcement was made during a meeting of the parliamentary committee on law and order, combating crime, and corruption.
Abdiev stated that police officers have conducted explanatory work with foreign citizens regarding the new regulation. He emphasized that students from countries such as Bangladesh who are studying in Bishkek should not engage in courier work. Those who violate this rule will be fined, and their scooters will be impounded for breaking traffic regulations.
The deputy minister clarified that these restrictions do not apply to citizens who have come to Kyrgyzstan under a labor quota. The aim of this policy is to ensure that foreign students prioritize their studies and academic responsibilities rather than engaging in part-time work that is not permitted under their visa status.
This decision comes as part of the government’s efforts to regulate the activities of foreign students in the country and maintain law and order. It is important for all foreign nationals studying in Kyrgyzstan to be aware of and abide by these regulations to avoid any potential repercussions.
