Minister of Labor and Social Security, Sadık Gardiyanoğlu, noted that they started a struggle to prevent illegal workforce, which is one of the biggest problems of the country, and said, “We have a serious political will to bring the illegal workforce to the point of zeroing in a short time like 4 months.”

Minister Gardiyanoğlu made statements about his working life at the reception of the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Commerce delegation headed by Turgay Deniz.

Explaining that he instructed the formation of a committee to prevent illegal labor, Gardiyanoğlu said that there will be representatives from the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry, the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Commerce, the Cyprus Turkish Contractors Association and the General Directorate of Police in the committee to be convened under the chairmanship of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labor.

Minister of Labor Gardiyanoğlu said, “This board will set the standards for the workers who will come to the country. Our Ministry receives dozens of pre-permission requests daily. The filters on this issue need to be increased.”

Minister Sadık Gardiyanoğlu, who also explained that he gave instructions for the preparation of special incentives for young business people, noted that they are preparing a package especially for young business people between the ages of 25-35.

Noting that they will continue to provide incentive premiums to the sectors for 10 months starting from September, upon the instruction of Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Gardiyanoğlu drew attention to their goal of protecting employment, preventing informality, and relieving business life to some extent.

Stating that the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Commerce is one of the biggest stakeholders of the ministry, Minister of Labor and Social Security Sadık Gardiyanoğlu stated that the ministry has a long way to go with the Chamber of Commerce.

Gardiyanoğlu said, “I believe that we will achieve many things together, we will prevent illegal labor and illegal economy, we will redefine the criteria of competitiveness… I believe that we will sign many social responsibility projects with the Chamber of Commerce in addition to working life.”

Turgay Deniz, President of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce, who took the first floor, wished Gardiyanoğlu success in his duty.

Noting that the government’s Social Insurance employer premium support is very meaningful for them, Deniz said that enterprises receiving premium support cannot lay off workers, and this protects employment.

Noting that this practice is also important to prevent informality, Turgay Deniz reminded that businesses that will benefit from premium support have to fully invest all their investments.

Expressing that as the business world, they welcome this support to be given again as of September, Deniz emphasized that the Chamber of Commerce is ready to cooperate in improving working conditions, ensuring working peace and especially bringing unemployed TRNC citizens to the real sector.
