Battery factories crucial in achieving climate objectives
Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, has stressed the significance of transitioning transport to electric, stating that without it, the “fight against climate change” will be over. Hungary is currently competing globally for investments in the battery industry, with the government only permitting investments that comply with strict environmental standards. The country is keen to emphasize that these investments, such as the CATL battery factory in Debrecen, will not harm the environment or water sources. Former State Secretary for Energy and President of the Hungarian Battery Association, Péter Kaderják, has commented on Hungary’s strong position in the competition for investments and its continued efforts to prioritize environmental protection.
