Belarus to Start Mass Production of Electric Vehicles by 2025

President Alexander Lukashenko has set the ambitious goal of starting mass production of electric vehicles based on the Belgee X50 model in Belarus by January 1, 2025. This announcement was made during his recent visit to the BELGEE plant, as reported by BELTA.

Deputy Prime Minister Pyotr Parkhomchik stated that specialists are tasked with creating the necessary technological capacities for the production of components used in electric vehicles by the end of this year. This includes establishing the production of gears for high-speed gearboxes, which is currently not a capability of Belarusian manufacturing.

In addition to gearing production, a pilot batch of electric vehicles will need to be released, and all processes related to their certification should be completed in preparation for mass production.

The production process of the electric car will involve Belarusian enterprises, including the Izmeritel plant and OJSC Integral. The electric car will have the body of the Belgee X50, the first Belarusian car. Welding work, painting, and other operations will be carried out at the BELGI plant to minimize costs.

According to Parkhomchik, the first prototypes will be assembled at BELGI, signaling a significant step in the country’s push for electric vehicle production.

This initiative marks an important endeavor for Belarus, as it seeks to contribute to the growing global market for electric vehicles and reduce its reliance on traditional automotive manufacturing.

The government’s push to start mass production of electric vehicles reflects the country’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, and it is a significant step toward establishing Belarus as a key player in the electric vehicle industry.
