Belgian PM Sets Timeline for Ukraine’s F-16 Fighter Jet Deliveries

Belgium to Deliver Two F-16 Fighter Jets to Ukraine This Year, Two More in 2025

Belgium has reaffirmed its commitment to supplying Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets, with Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever announcing that two aircraft will be delivered to Ukraine this year, followed by two more in 2025. During a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, De Wever assured that there are no delays expected in the supply schedule.

Belgium has pledged to become the largest supplier of F-16s to Ukraine, with the intention of sending two aircraft for spare parts this year and two operational jets next year. De Wever expressed optimism that Belgium could provide even more jets to Ukraine once the country receives its new F-35s. He emphasized that there are no delays on Belgium’s part in fulfilling its commitment.

The Belgian Prime Minister also mentioned that as soon as Belgium receives F-35s, it will be able to immediately transfer F-16s to Ukraine. He reiterated that Belgium will honor its commitments and ensure that the promised F-16 fighter jets are delivered to Ukraine without delay.

Ukraine and its allies formed an aviation coalition in 2023 to support Ukraine with F-16 fighters, aiming to provide at least 128 aircraft to the country. In 2024, Ukraine received its first F-16 fighters from partners such as the Netherlands and Denmark.

Belgium is set to supply Ukraine with a total of 30 fighter jets by the end of 2028, further solidifying the partnership between the two countries in enhancing Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
