Kazakhstan sees a surge in tourism with 9.1 million visitors in 2024
ASTANA – The tourism industry in Kazakhstan witnessed a significant boost in 2024, as the country welcomed a total of 9.1 million tourists who utilized various accommodation facilities across the nation. According to a report by the Kazakh Ministry of Tourism and Sports on April 16, the total volume of tourism services reached 300 billion tenge (US$573.3 million).
Among the top destinations, Almaty stood out as the most popular city for tourists, attracting 2.3 million visitors. Its unique blend of vibrant urban life, stunning mountain resorts, pleasant climate, and natural beauty continues to draw travelers from around the world.
Following closely behind was Astana, with 1.5 million tourists choosing the capital city as their preferred destination. Known for its growing reputation in business and event tourism, Astana hosts numerous conferences, exhibitions, and cultural events each year.
The Akmola Region, particularly the Burabai resort, welcomed 533,000 tourists who were captivated by the region’s picturesque landscapes. Shymkent and the Almaty Region also saw a significant influx of visitors, with approximately 508,000 and 507,500 tourists respectively in 2024.
