The White House Implements Temporary Ban to Expedite Expulsion of Unauthorized Immigrants
The United States presidential administration has announced new measures to facilitate the expulsion of individuals who do not have legal grounds to stay in the country. According to a statement published on the White House website on June 4, the ban took effect immediately and will be temporary, activated only when the southern border is congested.
These measures will only be lifted when the number of migrants crossing the border decreases to a level where U.S. officials can effectively manage migration operations. Reuters reported that the ban will be implemented if more than 2,500 detentions per day are recorded at the border, and will be lifted when the number drops below 1,500 per day.
It’s important to note that these restrictions do not apply to children who cross the border unaccompanied by parents or guardians, victims of human trafficking, or individuals in serious danger, including those with medical needs. This new policy aims to address the current challenges faced at the southern border and ensure the efficient handling of migration operations.
