Woman Dies 55 Days After Being Injured by Falling Advertising Sign in Turkey
A tragic incident occurred on September 1 in Etiler District Karacalı Street in Turkey. A 71-year-old woman named Asiye Doğançay was walking on the sidewalk when she was struck by an advertising sign that had been blown away by strong winds. The elderly woman was trapped under the sign and sustained injuries as a result.
Upon receiving notifications from bystanders, health and police teams rushed to the scene to assist. Doğançay was quickly given first aid in an ambulance and then transferred to Kırıkkale University Faculty of Medicine Hospital for further treatment.
After approximately 20 days of treatment, Doğançay was discharged but unfortunately fell ill again on October 10 and had to be hospitalized. Despite all efforts made to save her, Doğançay passed away on October 25 while receiving palliative care. The hospital report listed the cause of death as “natural causes”.
The moment when the advertising sign fell on the woman was captured by a workplace security camera, shedding light on the tragic incident. This unfortunate event serves as a reminder of the importance of safety measures in urban environments to prevent such accidents from happening in the future.
