Bishkek Mayor Helps Injured Children in Suzak Tragedy
Bishkek Mayor provides financial assistance to children injured in truck collision
The Mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Dzhunushaliev, has taken action to provide financial assistance to children who were injured in a tragic truck collision in Suzak district. The press service of the City Hall reported that the Mayor, along with other officials, visited the children at the City Children’s Clinical Emergency Hospital.
Fortunately, the condition of the injured children is reportedly improving according to doctors. Each child has been allocated funds from the mayor’s reserve fund for further treatment and rehabilitation, with an amount of 50,000 soms being provided to each child.
Currently, there are ten children being treated at the City Children’s Clinical Hospital, with some in the intensive care unit and others in the traumatology department. One child has already been transferred from the intensive care unit to the neurotraumatology department, showing signs of improvement. Another child with a broken leg is scheduled to undergo surgery in the near future.
The tragic incident occurred during a young manaschi contest in Zherge-Tal village, Suzak district, Jalal-Abad region. School children were reciting excerpts from the Manas epic when they were struck by a Hyundai Porter truck, resulting in 34 injuries.
The driver responsible for the collision has been detained, and a criminal case has been initiated under the violation of traffic safety rules and operation of motor vehicles. Additionally, consequences have been faced by authorities, as the head of the Suzak district police department, his deputy, and the head of the Oktyabrsky territorial police department have all been dismissed from their positions.
As a precautionary measure, the Ministry of Education and Science has decided to cancel all public events involving schoolchildren for safety reasons. The focus now is on the recovery and well-being of the injured children, with efforts being made to ensure their swift and successful rehabilitation.
