Bishkek Requires 18 New Schools to Alleviate Overcrowding

Bishkek to Build 18 New Schools to Ease Overcrowding Issue

In order to alleviate overcrowding in secondary schools in Bishkek, it has been deemed necessary to construct at least 18 new educational institutions. Vice Mayor of the capital, Victoria Mozgacheva, made this announcement during a meeting of the Mekenchil deputy group.

Mozgacheva revealed that plans are underway to build 12 schools this year with the support of the Qatar Charitable Foundation. Construction is already in progress for a school in the Ak-Bata residential complex, in addition to an extra building for school No. 88.

“With a current student population of 230,000 in our city, surpassing the capacity for 205,000 children, we are in need of 15-18 more schools to accommodate the growing number of first-graders each year. Previously having 18,000 first-graders, last year saw an increase to almost 25,000,” stated Victoria Mozgacheva.

She also highlighted that the consolidation of schools has been instrumental in addressing the issue of overcrowding in educational institutions. The ongoing efforts to build new schools aim to provide students with adequate facilities and resources for a conducive learning environment.
