Bishkek: The Economic Locomotive

Kyrgyzstan’s Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Akylbek Japarov, recently attended a meeting of the board of Bishkek City Hall to discuss the municipality’s 2023 results and set tasks for 2024. During the meeting, Japarov expressed gratitude to the City Hall employees for their coordinated operational work during an emergency situation at the heating and power plant in Bishkek.
Japarov emphasized the city’s potential to increase its budget and stressed the importance of improving tax administration, inventory, accounting, and management of municipal property. He also highlighted the need for digitalization of all processes, stating, “Bishkek city should become a locomotive of our economy. It is necessary to digitalize all processes in order to electronically monitor and control important areas of life of the capital.”
In addition, Japarov called for the implementation of special rules regarding cleanliness, public safety, and the aesthetics of the urban environment. He envisions a comfortable city for residents and tourists, complete with beautiful architectural ensembles, five-star hotels, and modern infrastructure, including a football stadium and a business center.
Following the meeting, instructions were issued to intensify work on tax administration, digitalization, and to strengthen control measures on the emission of harmful substances into the atmosphere by cars without catalytic converters.
As part of the meeting, Japarov inspected the vehicles purchased for the City Hall, including 11 electric vehicles for municipal inspection and 40 special vehicles and equipment for municipal enterprises. The efforts align with the goal to enhance landscaping and public order in Bishkek.
