Blogger accused of extortion in Jalal-Abad
Well-known blogger Aika Musayeva and Suzak rural council speaker detained for extortion in Kyrgyzstan
In a recent development, the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic reported the detention of well-known blogger Aika Musayeva and the speaker of Suzak rural council in the city of Jalal-Abad. The arrests were made on January 16 in relation to allegations of extortion and blackmail.
According to the state committee, Aika Musayeva was involved in illegal activities in Suzak and Nooken districts of Jalal-Abad region. The committee received complaints stating that she extorted money from businessmen and wealthy individuals by threatening to expose negative photos and videos on social media. Two cases of extortion have been identified, with Musayeva receiving sums of 120,000 and 80,000 soms.
The statement released by the security services mentioned that Musayeva, in collaboration with accomplices, provided services for the return of monetary debts in exchange for a share of the recovered funds. This illegal scheme also involved the speaker of Suzak rural council, who was also apprehended.
Victims of Aika Musayeva’s extortion are urged to come forward and contact the Main Department of the State Committee for National Security in Jalal-Abad region or call the provided hotline numbers.
The authorities are conducting further investigations into the case to ensure justice is served and to prevent similar criminal activities in the future.
