BORAN Howitzer secures export contract.

Turkey’s BORAN Howitzer has started to be exported after its entry into the inventory. The MKE A.S, which developed the BORAN 105mm Air Portable Light Towed Howitzer with national resources, recently signed a serial production contract with the Presidency of Defense Industries. More than 100 BORAN Howitzers will be delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces under this contract.

Additionally, an export contract has also been signed for the BORAN Howitzer. The General Manager of MKE A.S., İlhami Keleş, stated that they have already signed an export agreement with two countries and are in negotiations with other countries, adding that the demand from some countries is well above the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces.

BORAN Howitzer is designed to support the TAF’s internal security operations, air operations, and commando brigades. It has a range of more than 17 kilometers, a firing rate of 6 beats per minute, and a 105 millimeter barrel. The howitzer can take a firing position in less than 1 minute and can be transported by Sikorsky S-70 helicopters and various light vehicles.

The howitzer also has equipment such as Fire Control System, GPS, and panoramic binoculars. With a total weight of 1780 kilograms with its fire control system, it can perform all kinds of shooting missions for 8 hours without interruption. BORAN has the potential to be exported to many countries due to its simplicity, practicality, and capabilities, according to Keleş.

In conclusion, Turkey’s domestically developed BORAN Howitzer is proving to be a valuable asset to the Turkish Armed Forces and has opened up potential export opportunities for the country.
