Temporary Closure of Kyrgyz-Chinese Border Checkpoints for Labor Day Celebrations
Bishkek, April 26, 2025 – In light of the upcoming Labor Day celebrations in China, the Torugart-Avtodorozhny and Irkeshtam-Avtodorozhny checkpoints on the Kyrgyz-Chinese border will be temporarily closed on May 1, 2025.
This closure has been initiated by the Chinese authorities, impacting the movement of people, vehicles, and cargo across these key border crossings. The Information and Communications Department of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic has confirmed that operations at these checkpoints will resume on May 2, ensuring that normal transit will be restored soon after the holiday.
Citizens and travelers are advised to plan accordingly and take note of the temporary restrictions as they navigate border activities during this period.
