Government Delegations of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan Meet to Discuss Border Dispute
On January 13, 2024, the co-chairs of the government delegations of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border, Kamchybek Tashiev and Saimumin Yatimov, met in Batken city. The press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan reported the meeting.
During the meeting, the leaders of the government delegations continued to discuss the issue of delimitation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border in the remaining sections and gave instructions to further intensify negotiations of the working groups. The statement from the press service highlighted that the meeting took place in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding.
The Foreign Affairs Minister Hakan Fidan visited Kyrgyzstan on January 9, 2024, and after a meeting and negotiations with the President of Kyrgyzstan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Speaker of Parliament, he left for Dushanbe. In Dushanbe, after meetings with Emomali Rahmon and the Foreign Minister of the neighboring state, he made a statement that Turkey hopes for Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan border dispute resolution in March.
The ongoing meetings and discussions between the government delegations of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan reflect the efforts being made to resolve the border dispute and promote peaceful relations between the two countries. The hope for a resolution by March is a positive development in the ongoing negotiations.
