Turkish Navy Celebrates 100th Anniversary of the Republic with Bosphorus Parade
The Turkish navy marked the 100th anniversary of the Republic with a grand celebration in the Bosphorus. The event featured a parade of 100 warships, including the TCG Anadolu, the largest warship of the Turkish Armed Forces. As the ships made their way through the Bosphorus, they paid homage to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
In addition to the warships, the Turkish Stars and SOLOTÜRK performed a demonstration flight in the Bosphorus. The aerial acrobatics drew attention from spectators as the pilots flew over iconic landmarks such as the Hagia Sophia Mosque and the Blue Mosque.
The parade, named “100 Ships in the 100th Year,” was led by Naval Forces Commander Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu. Various types of ships, including frigates, corvettes, and submarines, participated in the parade under the guidance of TCG Anadolu.
During the parade, Turkey’s first national frigate TCG Istanbul, Pirireis submarine, and Derya ship also made an appearance. The ships offered a salute to President Erdoğan, who observed the ceremony from Vahdettin Mansion.
The passage through the Bosphorus was not limited to the warships. Nine F-16 and three F-4E aircraft, along with helicopters from the Air Force Command, accompanied the fleet. The procession was met with enthusiasm from citizens, who gathered along the shoreline to celebrate the occasion.
The event was attended by several government officials, including Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Minister of Culture and Tourism Nuri Ersoy, and Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca. Each official observed the celebrations from different locations along the Bosphorus.
The highlight of the celebration was the demonstration flight performed by SOLOTÜRK and Turkish Stars. The pilots showcased their skills by drawing the “moon and stars” in the sky and forming the number “100.” The acrobatic maneuvers, which lasted approximately 40 minutes, captivated the audience and created a memorable sight in Istanbul.
Spectators enthusiastically supported the demonstration, waving Turkish flags and applauding the pilots. Many even recorded the event with their mobile phones, capturing the breathtaking moments on the Bosphorus.
The Turkish navy’s grand parade in the Bosphorus was a fitting tribute to the 100th anniversary of the Republic. The event showcased the nation’s naval strength and celebrated the achievements of the past century. It was a proud moment for Turkey and a reminder of its rich history and bright future.
