Breaking News: Eskişehir Historical Artifact Operation Uncovered

The Provincial Gendarmerie Command Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch Directorate in Turkey recently made a significant discovery in the city of Tepebaşı. After receiving information that a suspect was attempting to sell historical artifacts, the teams conducted searches and found several valuable items.
Among the items seized were a statue of Cybele believed to date back to the Roman period, an object marked with a cross, and a statue from the early Roman period. Additionally, in a search carried out in the Seyitgazi district, 32 coins, ornaments, and a detector also thought to be from the Roman period were discovered.
As a result of these findings, legal action has been taken against the suspects by the Eskişehir Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office for “violation of the Law on the Protection of Cultural and Natural Assets”.
This discovery serves as an important reminder of the ongoing issue of illegal trafficking of historical artifacts and the importance of protecting cultural and natural heritage. It also highlights the dedication of law enforcement and government authorities in combating such illegal activities to preserve the rich history of the region.
