Breaking News: Silvio Berlusconi’s Death and Age

Silvio Berlusconi, the former Prime Minister of Italy and one of the most influential figures in recent Italian history, has passed away at the age of 86. Berlusconi had been battling leukemia for some time before his death at San Raffaele Hospital in Milan.
Berlusconi first became Prime Minister in 1994 and formed a government four times until 2011. Although he was often associated with scandals and corruption accusations, the media mogul and former president of football club Milan was also seen as a decisive actor in Italian politics.
Despite his controversial career, Berlusconi made a comeback in the political arena in 2017, leading the Forza Italia Party. He was one of the junior partners in the current ruling coalition.
Berlusconi’s death has been met with mixed emotions from politicians and the public alike. Matteo Renzi, a former Italian Prime Minister, acknowledged Berlusconi’s influence on politics, the economy, sports, and television life, calling his death the end of an era. Defense Minister Guido Crosetto expressed deep sadness, saying that he loved Berlusconi and that his passing left a huge void.
Aside from politics, Berlusconi’s family was among the wealthiest in Italy, with interests in media and sports. He founded Mediaset, Italy’s largest commercial publisher, and owned AC Milan football club from 1986 to 2017. During his ownership, Milan won numerous championships, including five Champions League titles.
Berlusconi’s personal life was also the subject of media attention, particularly his infamous “bunga bunga” parties. He was tried in multiple cases on charges such as prostitution and bribery, and was convicted of tax fraud in 2013, losing his senate seat. Berlusconi had five children from two previous marriages and recently married his lover Marta Fascina, who is 53 years younger than him, in 2022.
Berlusconi’s death marks the end of a controversial and influential era in Italian politics and society.
