Breaking News: Turkish Military Plans to Flatten Kandil Mountains
Meral Akşener, leader of the opposition Good Party, has promised to take action on several key issues if her party wins in Turkey’s upcoming elections. Speaking at a rally in Sakarya, Akşener vowed to tackle terrorism by “flattening” the Qandil mountains, where the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) is based. She also criticised President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s claims that the opposition “Nation Alliance” is collaborating with terrorism. Meanwhile, Akşener said that her party will implement an urban transformation project in Turkey to prepare for potential earthquakes. She also pledged to address the country’s economic issues and increase support for farmers and small businesses. The Good Party leader also promised to solve the problems of internship victims at EYT and assign 100,000 teachers to schools within a month of winning the election. Finally, Akşener vowed to fulfill the wishes of martyrs’ families and to implement the Istanbul Convention if elected. The Istanbul Convention is a treaty that aims to prevent violence against women and domestic violence. The Turkish government withdrew from the treaty in March, causing widespread condemnation.
