Breaking News: Verdict Announced in Sıla Baby Case at the Last Minute
The third hearing of the case regarding the sexual abuse and violence suffered by Sıla Yaniçeri leading to her death is set to begin at 9:30 at the Tekirdag 2 High Criminal Court. Police have implemented extensive security measures around the courthouse in preparation for the trial. Early in the morning, lawyers and representatives from non-governmental organizations started arriving at the Tekirdağ Courthouse.
Among the defendants in the case are Sıla’s mother, Bakiye Janissary (30), who faces 67 years for “intentional killing with negligence”, neighbor Kani A. (33) facing 28 years and 6 months, and Sanli Ö. (58) facing 1 year and 6 months for “not reporting the crime”. The defendants GK (15) and Ka (14) face sentences totaling 66 years and 48 years, respectively, for their involvement in the case.
The decision in the case was reached during the hearing at the Tekirdag 2nd High Criminal Court. Sanlı Ö. and Kani A. were found guilty of “obscenity” and sentenced accordingly. Sıla Yaniçeri’s mother, Bakiye, as well as the two children involved in the crime, were also sentenced to prison terms.
The tragic incident involving Sıla Yaniçeri took place in the Malkara district, where her father, BY, found her unresponsive on September 8, 2024. Following her hospitalization and subsequent brain surgery, investigations led to the arrest of several individuals, including S.Ö., Ka, and GK.
As the trial progresses, justice will be sought for Sıla Yaniçeri and her family, ensuring that those responsible for her tragic death are held accountable for their actions. The community and legal system are united in their efforts to bring closure to this heartbreaking case.
