Kyrgyzstan Parliament considers agreement on joint management of Bishkek State Hospital with Turkey

In a recent development, the ratification of the agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers and the Government of Turkey on the joint management of the Bishkek State Hospital of Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship named after Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been submitted to the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan for consideration.

The agreement, which is set for a five-year period, outlines that the hospital’s operations will be fully funded by the Turkish side. Every five years, after the extension of the agreement, Turkey will provide $32 million in funding. Additionally, Turkey will cover the personnel costs of its citizens working at the hospital without transferring the funds to the hospital’s budget.

Furthermore, the agreement allows for a maximum of 20 doctors from Kyrgyzstan to undergo training in Turkey each year for potential employment at the hospital.

It is important to note that in terms of patient co-payments, fees for examinations, diagnostics, and treatment, the prices set by the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic will be applied.

Deputy Minister of Health, Kaarmanbek Baidavletov, disclosed that the hospital currently has 12 Kyrgyz doctors, 9 Turkish doctors, 30 Kyrgyz nurses, and 19 Turkish nurses on staff.

This partnership between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey aims to enhance healthcare services at the Bishkek State Hospital while also fostering collaboration between the two nations in the medical field. The Parliament’s decision on the ratification of the agreement will have significant implications for the future of healthcare in Kyrgyzstan.
