BRTK Hosts World Cup Asian Qualifiers
In a show of solidarity with Palestine, the recent match between Palestine and Australia in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers saw an outpouring of support for the Palestinian cause. The match, which took place in Kuwait due to security concerns, ended with a 1-0 victory for Australia.
However, the focus of the match shifted away from the score as fans and players sent messages of support for Palestine. Due to restrictions, Palestinian defenders Ibrahim Abuimeir, Ahmed Kullab, and Khaled Al-Nabris were unable to play, leading to approximately 15 thousand fans in the stands displaying Palestinian flags and “Freedom for Gaza” banners.
In a further display of solidarity, the Australian Football Federation announced that the players donated their earnings from the match to aid Gaza. This gesture of support highlights the power of sports to transcend boundaries and promote messages of peace and unity.
