BRTK reports insufficient reforestation in burnt areas

Chamber of Forestry Engineers Emphasizes the Importance of Afforestation on World Forestry Day

On March 21, World Forestry Day, the Chamber of Forestry Engineers (OMO) issued a message highlighting the need for increased afforestation efforts to combat the loss of forest areas due to fires in recent years.

According to OMO, the current afforestation work is not sufficient to reforest the areas lost to fires, and more planting should be done beyond just replacing the burned seedlings. The organization also stressed the importance of continuing the fight against the pine pouch beetle and ensuring that the damage threshold value remains at an acceptable level.

Ahmet İyigün, President of the Chamber of Forestry Engineers, celebrated World Forestry Day by acknowledging the efforts of forest workers and the public in protecting and developing forest areas. Various activities were organized to raise awareness about the importance of forest conservation.

İyigün also highlighted the need to allocate the necessary budget to the Forestry Department for implementing effective strategies, such as biological larvasitis applications, to combat the pine pouch beetle. He mentioned a successful collaboration with Tashkent Doğa Park and YDU in producing and releasing Hunter insects for biological pest control in forest areas.

The Chamber of Forestry Engineers called for an increase in production capacity for these beneficial insects and urged timely actions to preserve and restore forest ecosystems. It is essential to prioritize afforestation efforts and sustainable forest management practices to ensure the preservation of our natural resources for future generations.
