Budget Deficit Expected to Drop Below 5 Percent by Year’s End
The 93rd Izmir International Fair (IEF) kicked off with a grand opening reception at the Kültürpark Open Air Theatre, marking a significant moment for the city of Izmir. Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz expressed his delight in being a part of this historical event, noting the significance of the fair’s connection to Victory Week and its roots in the legacy of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
In his address, Minister Yılmaz highlighted the importance of the Izmir Fair as a symbol of economic independence and progress. He commended the organizers and participants for their dedication to the fair, which has become a cornerstone of Izmir’s cultural and commercial heritage over the past 93 years.
Reflecting on Turkey’s economic achievements, Minister Yılmaz emphasized the country’s growth in investment, production, employment, and exports. He announced that the national income had surpassed 1.1 trillion dollars in 2023, with per capita income reaching $13,110.
Minister Yılmaz also highlighted the government’s efforts to reduce inflation, improve stability, and attract high-tech investments. He noted the success in the defense industry, with a significant decrease in external dependency and a rise in defense product exports. The government aims to further boost these exports and establish Turkey as a global hub for technology investments by 2030.
With the theme of this year’s fair focusing on “Technology,” Minister Yılmaz encouraged the business community to invest in R&D, support young entrepreneurs, and prioritize technological innovation and exports. He affirmed the government’s commitment to collaboration with the private sector to drive Turkey’s growth and development.
