Buse Savaşkan in the spotlight – BRTK
The 28th Balkan Indoor Athletics Championship kicked off today in Istanbul, featuring 233 athletes from 20 different countries. The championship is being held at the Istanbul Ataköy Athletics Hall and is sure to showcase some incredible talent from the region.
One athlete to keep an eye on is Buse Savaşkan from the TRNC Athletics Federation. Savaşkan, who is aiming for an Olympic quota, will be competing for the title in the Balkan Championship. She has already made a name for herself by achieving impressive results in recent competitions.
In January, Savaşkan secured first place in France with a time of 1.85, and then followed it up with a third-place finish in Germany with a time of 1.91. These performances saw her break the Turkish indoor record that had stood for 22 years. Savaşkan continued to impress by winning the competition in France with a jump of 1.86, breaking her own championship record, and later coming in second in Italy with a jump of 1.85.
With such a strong track record, Savaşkan is definitely a contender to watch in this year’s championship. It will be interesting to see how she performs and whether she can secure another title to add to her already impressive list of achievements.
