Cannes Jury Unveiled: The Latest Update
The Main Competition Jury for the 76th Cannes Film Festival has been officially announced. Ruben Östlund, who won the Palme d’Or last year with his film “Triangle of Sadness”, will be the President of the Jury. Östlund will be accompanied by an impressive list of star directors and actors, including Hollywood actors Paul Dano and Brie Larson, Moroccan director Maryam Touzani, French actress Denis Ménochet, British-Zambian screenwriter and director Rungano Nyoni, Afghan writer Atiq Rahimi, Argentine director and screenwriter Damián Szifrón, and French director Julia Ducournau, who won the Palme d’Or for “Titane” in 2021.
The jury will be responsible for selecting the winner of the Golden Palm as well as other awards. This year’s competition includes 21 films, one of which is Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s latest film, “On Dry Grass”. The winners will be announced at the closing ceremony of the festival on May 27.
Ruben Östlund is the first Swedish person to be President of the Cannes jury since Ingrid Bergman in 1973. The director won the Palme d’Or with “Triangle of Sadness” in 2022 and the Palme d’Or in 2017 for his film “The Square”, as well as the Special Jury Award for his 2014 film “Force Majeure”.
