Turkmen Citizens Gather in Moscow to Celebrate Neutrality Anniversary

A special event was held at the Moscow House of Nationalities on December 12 to mark the 28th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality. The event saw the participation of Turkmen citizens living in Russia, as well as Turkmen students studying at Moscow universities.

Organized by the autonomous non-profit organization “Russian-Turkmen Cultural Center” (Moscow), the Foundation for Promoting the Strengthening of Friendship of the Peoples of the Caspian States “Caspian Heritage” (Republic of Kalmykia), and the Organizing Committee of the Moscow International Arts Festival “Sounds of Dutar” named after Nury Halmamedov, the meeting featured an art exhibition, a conference, and a festive concert.

The art exhibition showcased the works of Turkmen and Russian artists, including Valery Kurbanov, Darius Asadullaev, sculptor Togrul Yarmamedov, and graphic artist Kristina Grineva. The diverse range of artwork on display included abstract and figurative pieces, each with its own unique style and storytelling approach.

The conference, titled “The neutral status of Turkmenistan is an important factor of security in Central Asia and the Caspian Sea,” featured discussions on the legal status of Turkmenistan’s neutrality and the importance of international cooperation in various fields such as trade and economic relations, environmental safety, energy security, and the creation of international transport corridors.

Prominent personalities such as Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Boris Chernyshov and composer Mamed Huseynov addressed the participants, emphasizing the significance of Turkmenistan’s neutrality as a stabilizing factor in the region and a channel for cultural dialogue.

The event concluded with a festive concert featuring the laureates of the VII Moscow International Arts Festival “Sounds of Dutar” named after Nury Halmamedov. The participants expressed their best wishes for the prosperity and well-being of independent Turkmenistan and expressed their desire for similar events to be held in Russia in the future.
