
Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum’s Events Held in Ashgabat

Events within the framework of the Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum in Ashgabat
On November 1, 2023, a business forum of young entrepreneurs was held in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan as part of the 16th Cooperation Forum “Central Asia-Republic of Korea”.
The first session of the business forum focused on government support measures for the development of youth entrepreneurship in Central Asia and the Republic of Korea. Representatives from participating countries shared their national experiences and achievements in this field.
During the second session, which centered on the development of startup entrepreneurship and startup incubators, participants discussed the activities of venture funds in launching innovative businesses.
Furthermore, there was an extensive exchange of ideas between young entrepreneurs and businesspersons regarding the implementation of innovations in strategic areas of development based on the principles of a “green economy,” including renewable energy, digital economy, biotechnology, robotics, and smart cities.
In addition to the business forum, bilateral meetings and negotiations took place between representatives of business circles from Central Asia and the Republic of Korea.
Within the framework of the Forum, six thematic sessions were also held in the relevant ministries and state agencies of Turkmenistan.
The first session, titled “Transport and Logistics,” focused on the interconnectedness of the transport and logistics infrastructure of Central Asia and the Republic of Korea, examining the challenges and opportunities involved.
The second session, “Healthcare and Medicine,” discussed priorities for the development of rehabilitation medicine and the healthcare system in Central Asia.
The third session, “Climate change and environmental protection,” centered around the climate-water-food-energy nexus, with a focus on climate change adaptation, water management, and climate-smart agriculture.
The fourth session, “Information and Communication Technologies,” addressed issues related to e-government and e-services, including the prospects of using ICT to improve public services and citizen-government interaction.
The fifth session, “Education and Science,” highlighted innovative processes in science and education and explored the opportunities and prospects for cooperation between the Central Asian states and the Republic of Korea.
In the sixth session, “Tourism,” the development of sustainable tourism was discussed under the theme of “Revival of the Great Silk Road.”
Overall, the events within the Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum in Ashgabat provided a platform for fruitful discussions and exchange of knowledge, fostering collaboration between the participating countries in various sectors of mutual interest.
