Bishkek, 24 October 2023 – Jeenbek Kulubaev, the Foreign Affairs Minister of Kyrgyzstan, is set to participate in the upcoming meeting of Foreign Ministers from Central Asia and the European Union. The press service of the Foreign Affairs Ministry has confirmed this.
The ministerial meeting, which will be held on 23 October 2023 in Luxembourg, will see the participation of Foreign Ministers from Central Asia and the European Union in a 5+27 format. This format will be used for the first time in this event.
The meeting aims to outline plans for the development of regional cooperation and to exchange views on current global and regional issues. Jeenbek Kulubaev is planning to meet with colleagues from Luxembourg, Austria, Finland, Denmark, and the European Commissioner for International Partnerships to discuss ways to enhance bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
This comes after the recent summit in New York, where US President Joseph Biden met with the Presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan in the first presidential summit in C5+1 format during the UN General Assembly session. Additionally, the President of Germany also held a meeting with Central Asian leaders, including the Presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and the national leader of Turkmenistan.
Furthermore, reports indicate that Tokyo plans to initiate a Central Asia-Japan summit in 2024.
The upcoming ministerial meeting in Luxembourg provides an opportunity for the participants to strengthen regional cooperation and address pressing issues affecting Central Asia and the European Union.
