Central Asian Artisans Spark Cultural Diplomacy in Brussels
Central Asia – European Creative Forum Promotes Cultural Diplomacy in Brussels
A group of twelve Central Asian designers and creative professionals have come together to initiate the five-day Central Asia – European Creative Forum in Brussels. The main aim of this forum is to showcase their works and projects, as well as to promote cultural diplomacy at an international level.
The brainchild behind this event, Elena Van Kharitonova, shared that it took several months of planning and organization to bring this forum to fruition. Over the course of five days, participants will delve into the realm of cultural diplomacy and international cultural relations, with a specific focus on Central Asia as a shared creative region. They will have the opportunity to learn about the European Union’s foreign policy, as well as the vision of the European Parliament for the region.
Van Kharitonova emphasized the importance of cultural diplomacy in winning hearts and minds, and how international cultural relations entail joint actions and cooperation based on mutual interests. The forum aims to equip creative professionals with diplomatic skills, as they serve as ambassadors of their countries and cultures.
In addition to presentations and discussions, Kazakh jewelers showcased their talents during the Almaty Jewelry Week as part of the forum. Artist and jeweler Nurdos Aliaskarov expressed his excitement for the project, stating that it aims to develop and attract new participants, fostering a sense of union through art.
The organizers hope that this forum will become an annual event, focusing on creative aspects such as cultural diplomacy among artists, artisans, and creators. By bringing together individuals from diverse countries, cultures, and backgrounds, the forum serves as a platform for building connections and fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of different artistic traditions.
