Çeşme Operator Hangs “Toilet 50 Lira” Sign: We Had No Choice – Latest Turkey News

“We Had to Hang this Article”: Café Forced to Address Overflowing Toilet Issue
In a recent statement, an operator of a local café highlighted the overwhelming issue they faced due to citizens flocking to their establishment solely to use the restroom facilities. Despite having limited capacity to serve customers, hundreds of individuals were visiting the café daily to fulfill their toilet needs, putting immense strain on the café’s operations.
The café operator revealed that the decision to display a notice addressing this problem came after enduring a great deal of inconvenience. The article was posted just last week, and soon gained significant traction on social media platforms. The café, situated in close proximity to various restaurants, found itself bombarded with requests from approximately 100 to 150 people daily, all seeking to use their restrooms.
Recognizing that their infrastructure was ill-equipped to accommodate such demands, the operator lamented, “Our maximum capacity is already limited to 30 people. Additionally, the Castle area, managed by the Çeşme Municipality, offers free public restrooms located right next to our café. However, despite the availability of these facilities, citizens insisted on using ours, leading us to resort to writing this article as a means to dissuade them. Thankfully, since posting it, we have felt a sense of relief.”
Acknowledging the café’s predicament, it becomes evident that the article proved to be a necessary measure to protect the establishment’s limited resources and prioritize their main function of serving customers. While the café remains committed to meeting the needs of its patrons, it is important for visitors to respect the café’s capacity and utilize the available public restrooms provided by the municipality.
Moving forward, it is hoped that this article serves as a reminder to citizens to be mindful of the strain they may inadvertently place on small businesses and to make use of appropriate facilities in order to maintain a harmonious and sustainable relationship within the community.
