Chairman of Mejlis of Turkmenistan meets Speaker of National Assembly of Republic of Korea
The Chairman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, D. Gulmanova, recently held a meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, Kim Jin-pyo. The meeting, which took place on July 20, 2023, saw the participation of delegates from both countries.
During the meeting, D. Gulmanova congratulated Kim Jin-pyo on receiving the Order of Turkmenistan “Bitaraplyk” and wished him continued success in his inter-parliamentary activities. The Mejlis Chairman also highlighted the active involvement of Korean partners in Turkmenistan’s extensive reform program, as well as the significance of inter-parliamentary dialogue in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Kim Jin-pyo expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and congratulations, emphasizing the constructive nature of bilateral relations and the positive role played by productive inter-parliamentary ties in their development.
Both parties praised the high level of dialogue achieved in recent years, acknowledging the mutual desire to enhance the traditional partnership based on principles of equality and mutual respect. They also discussed the dynamic development of bilateral relations through various formats, including major international organizations and authoritative regional bodies.
During the meeting, the Korean delegation was introduced to the structure and activities of Turkmenistan’s national parliament. They learned about significant laws and regulations enacted in recent years, which have provided impetus to the innovative reforms led by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The heads of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea expressed their commitment to gradually developing the strategic partnership and creating new avenues for effective interaction, particularly through inter-parliamentary collaboration. The visit of the Korean delegation to Turkmenistan and the current meeting were expected to contribute positively to this process.
Towards the end of the meeting, Kim Jin-pyo addressed the deputies of the Mejlis, affirming the Korean side’s dedication to maintaining a friendly dialogue with Turkmenistan for mutual benefit.
