Northern Cyprus Chess Federation Renames Women’s Chess Tournament in Honor of Chess Champion Selin Karakaya
On World Chess Day, the Northern Cyprus Chess Federation made a significant decision to honor chess champion Selin Karakaya. The federation announced that the name of the traditionally organized Women’s Chess Tournament will be changed to the SELİN KARAKAYA WOMEN’S CHESS TOURNAMENT, sponsored by Arzum.
Selin Karakaya, a member of the Champion Angels Team and an accomplished chess player, has been recognized for her exceptional skill and contribution to the game. This tribute aims to celebrate her achievements and inspire more female chess players to participate in the tournament.
The SELİN KARAKAYA WOMEN’S CHESS TOURNAMENT is scheduled to take place from August 4th to 6th, 2023, at the Famagusta Goldenpion Chess Association. Applications for the tournament have already begun, and interested participants can apply until July 28, 2023, at 12:00.
This renaming not only highlights Selin Karakaya’s accomplishments but also promotes inclusivity and encourages more women to engage in the game of chess. The tournament promises to be a remarkable event, bringing together talented players and offering an opportunity for friendly competition and skill development.
