A tragic incident unfolded early this morning in Istanbul, where Bahar Aksu, a woman on her way to work, was fatally shot. The horrifying attack took place around 6:30 AM on Kazım Orbay Street, reportedly orchestrated by her ex-husband, Rüstem Elibol, and three accomplices.
According to witnesses, Aksu screamed for help as Elibol and his associates attempted to force her into a vehicle. In a desperate bid to escape, she resisted, prompting Elibol to draw a firearm. Eyewitnesses reported hearing 5 to 6 gunshots in rapid succession before Aksu collapsed to the ground.
At the scene, police and medical teams were promptly dispatched, but unfortunately, Aksu was pronounced dead at the location. The suspects fled in a car following the attack.
Security cameras captured the harrowing moment of the incident, revealing Aksu’s struggle against her ex-husband and his friends as they attempted to abduct her. The footage shows Elibol brandishing his weapon moments before the shooting occurred.
Following extensive investigation efforts, police apprehended Rüstem Elibol and his three companions at a checkpoint in Silivri, where they attempted to evade capture. They were taken to the Gayrettepe Public Security Branch Directorate for questioning.
