China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway Company Holds Inaugural Meeting
The first gathering of the participants of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway Company LLC took place in Bishkek on October 11, with the heads of the railway administrations of China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan in attendance. This important event marks a significant step forward in the implementation of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction project, as reported by the press service of Kyrgyz Temir Zholu state enterprise.
The company, established to oversee the construction project, counts China State Railway Corporation, Kyrgyz Temir Zholu state enterprise, and Uzbekiston Temir Yollari JSC as its founders. The primary focus of the company’s activities will be on financing, designing, constructing, operating, and maintaining the railway line that will pass through the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
Key decisions were made during the meeting, including the approval of the board of directors’ composition and the selection of the management team for the executive body of the company. Additionally, discussions on financing matters took place, leading to the adoption of an investment plan for the year 2024.
The establishment of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway Company marks a significant milestone in enhancing regional connectivity and promoting economic growth through improved transportation infrastructure.
